In the news this past week:
–District 2’s Community Education Council approved a non-binding resolution calling for an investigation into the presence of transgender girls on girls’ sports teams. The vote is legally meaningless but has prompted a strong reaction from some elected officials. It’s also become a talking point in the debate over the mayor’s control of public schools. –James Fuentes grew up on the Lower East Side and played a significant role in the development of the neighborhood’s gallery scene. Now he’s making the move to Tribeca and, “For the first time ever in the history of the gallery,” Fuentes explains, “we’ll be centrally located and in the middle of the conversation.” [The Art Newspaper]
